Salesperson Licensing Requirements
To be eligible for the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson Examination candidates must be: at least 21; a high school graduate or have obtained a G.E.D. and must successfully complete the 45 Hour Real Estate Transactions Course. The pre-licensing classes are designed to prepare students to pass the state salesperson and broker licensing exams.   These courses typically cover topics relating to the basics of real estate and include Real Estate Principles and Practices, Sales and Brokerage, Financing and Appraisal.  Typically, the courses are given by real estate schools, some community colleges and universities, and occasionally by real estate firms.  Additional courses include continuing education which brokers and salespersons must periodically take in order to maintain and renew their licenses.
